I, like what my sister said, am beyond words and am shocked.

I lurve the theme song of this new “blockbuster” TV series on Channel 8 by Mediacorp – The Ultimatum [寂寞光年 by 刘力扬]. Even though I am not into Mandarin songs and have no idea who she is, I love her voice and the lyrics!

寂寞光年The Ultimatum Theme Song

SIGNS, one of the participating films for The Schweppes Short Film Festival 2009, was simply magical, intelligent use of music and words/signs brought life to this 12 minute film. A perfect example of effective product placement featuring Schweppes in a subtle yet noticeable manner.

Coldplay played to 10,000 fans last Monday nite, and Mr Smiley was there to witness the world’s greatest band (cause I say so) rawk the bloody roof down, and cause a massive rush of blood to all our heads (above the waist pls, ppl).

Don’ believe ah? See video lor.  Awesome awesome band, this Coldplay.

WARNING: Videos may contain unexplainable groupie-esque howls of inexplicable joy. Cringe-worthy singalongs may also be present at certain video intervals. NOT suitable (TOTALLY) for workplace viewing.

Watched it last week and it gave me a new perspective in life.

People are meant to die. People are meant to lose their love ones. Cause only through loss, can one learn to cherish what you have.

Did I mention Brad Pit is cute? Cate is very classy too.

Trying to clean up my room and I’ve got some CDs to giveaway instead of allowing them to collect dust in my cluttered room. Most of these CDs were given to me from my previous internship and it is in a pretty good condition.

So if anyone out there would like to have these CDs do drop me a message [I can mail them (you pay) or pass them to you], otherwise I would hand them over to the Salvation Army.

What are kids thinking these days ?

My brother just introduced this new genre of music to me. The kind he listened to all day and night.

SCREAMO.

Out of curiosity, I looked up urbandictionary.com – the trusted dictionary.

Screamo: A term that refers to recent bands that play old style emo. When the media started to label pop punk and indie rock bands emo, people needed a new word to describe the style of music that used to be characterized with emo. Some say screamo is a little more artsy and pretentious than older emo, but that’s arguable.

Ok. Now, my definition of screamo after personally experiencing the horrifying noise, oh no, I meant music.

A bunched of emo kids, or youth as my brother corrected, who learn to sing-scream their lungs out without damaging their throat. “Cause they used a special technique called – Inhale screaming.” That is what my brother claimed, and he went on by saying that “they using diaphragm instead of their throat when singing.”

O.K. Whatever that is, I am definitely not trying to sing like them. Even though my friends prefer to have their “Sore throat Serene” back, but hey, I am not shutting up. HAHA

I don’t wanna talk
About the things we’ve gone through
Though it’s hurting me
Now it’s history
I’ve played all my cards
And that’s what you’ve done too
Nothing more to say
No more ace to play

The winner takes it all
The loser standing small
Beside the victory
That’s her destiny

I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence
Building me a home
Thinking I’d be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules

The gods may throw a dice
Their minds as cold as ice
And someone way down here
Loses someone dear
The winner takes it all
The loser has to fall
It’s simple and it’s plain
Why should I complain.

But tell me does she kiss
Like I used to kiss you?
Does it feel the same
When she calls your name?
Somewhere deep inside
You must know I miss you
But what can I say
Rules must be obeyed

The judges will decide
The likes of me abide
Spectators of the show
Always staying low
The game is on again
A lover or a friend
A big thing or a small
The winner takes it all

I don’t wanna talk
If it makes you feel sad
And I understand
You’ve come to shake my hand
I apologize
If it makes you feel bad
Seeing me so tense
No self-confidence
But you see
The winner takes it all
The winner takes it all……

Mamma Mia, the Movie. I love musical! Can I repeat myself? I love musical!

I love how the music lifts up the spirit and expresses the characters’ emotions throughout the show. Despite having watched the musical shown in Broadway, New York, I think the movie was still good.

Broadway was awesome and the movie was great. Each character put up a great show and the backdrop was simply beautiful. That Little Greek Island is definitely the perfect honeymoon destination!

The singing. Ermm. Let’s just say that Pierce Brosnan is still cute at 55.

My favourite song in the movie? It has got to be “The Winner Takes It All”, originally titled “The Story of My Life”.

This song was written by both Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, with Fältskog singing the lead vocal. The lyrics to the song were thought to mirror the divorce between Ulvaeus and Fältskog in 1979 and it was a chart-topper in the 1978 in Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, South Africa and in many parts of the world. [Adapted from the most reliable source: Wikipedia]

I can totally relate and feel for Donna when she sang this song. My heart ached for her and my watery eyes indicated how marvelous her acting and singing skills were.

I will give it 4.5 stars!

Note: To the people who can’t appreciate musical, please don’t waste your time and ruin other patrons’ experience.

When I was watching this movie with my sister, a guy lamented “Oh my God this is the worst movie of the century.” And on what basis? (1) He can’t stand people of a mature age kissing and behaving intimately. Hey, isn’t it sweet that they can openly express their love even at their age instead of playing the mind guessing game? and (2) he simply can’t stand the singing and dancing in between each character’s line. Oh. Get out of here.

She’s good. I love her husky voice, sexy and soothing at the same time. Nice. Feels like winter …

Lets Start From Here – Joanna Wang

Let’s Start From Here

Giving up,why should I

I’ve come to far to forget
We’re beautiful,we just got lost

Somewhere along the way
So much was missing when you went away
Let’s start from here, lose the past
Change our minds,we don’t need a finish line
Let’s take this chance don’t think too deep
Of all those promises we couldn’t seem to keep
I don’t care where we go
Let’s start from here

Standing here face to face
A finger on your lips
Don’t say a word don’t make a sound
Silence surrounds us now
Even when you were gone I felt you everywhere
Let’ start from here, lose the past
Change our minds, we don’t need a finish line
Let’s take this chance don’t think too deep
Of all those promises we couldn’t seem to keep
I don’t care where we go
Let’s start from here
Let’s start from here

I’ve never been the one to open up
But you’ve always been the voive within
The only warmth from my cold heart
Let’s start from here, lose the past
Change our minds, we don’t need a finish line
Let’s take this chance don’t think too deep
Of all those promises
Let’s start from here, lose the past
Change our minds, we don’t need a finish line
Let’s take this chance don’t think too deep
Of all those promises we couldn’t seem to keep
I don’t care where we go
Let’s start from here
Let’s start from here
Let’s start from here
Let’s start from here

Before the world began
You were on His mind
And every tear you cry
Is precious in His eyes
Because of His great love
He gave His only Son
Everything was done
So you would come

Nothing you can do
Could make Him love you more
And nothing that you’ve done
Could make Him close the door
Because of His great love
He gave His only Son
Everything was done
So you would come

Come to the Father
Though your gift is small
Broken hearts, broken lives
He will take them all
The power of the Word
The power of His blood
Everything was done
So you would come

A perfect song for marriage proposal! Enjoy!

Breatheless

If our love was a fairy tale
I would charge in and rescue you
On a yacht baby we would sail
To an island where we’d say I do

And if we had babies they would look like you
It’d be so beautiful if that came true
You don’t even know how very special you are

Chorus

You leave me breathless
You’re everything good in my life
You leave me breathless
I still can’t believe that you’re mine
You just walked out of one of my dreams
So beautiful you’re leaving me
Breathless

And if our love was a story book
We would meet on the very first page
The last chapter would be about
How I’m thankful for the life we’ve made

And if we had babies they would have your eyes
I would fall deeper watching you give life
You don’t even know how very special you are

Repeat Chorus

You must have been sent from heaven to earth to change me
You’re like an angel
The thing that I feel is stronger than love believe me
You’re something special
I only hope that I’ll one day deserve what you’ve given me
But all I can do is try
Every day of my life

Repeat Chorus x 2

At Santa Monica, there lives a hot girl and her horrendous looking best friend. It doesn’t take a brain larger than a peanut to guess who the hottie is.

Sigh.

Paris Hilton is one of the executive producers of this show and I seriously don’t know what’s on her mind. No wonder Grandpa Hilton decided not to give her a single penny.

60% of the show featured how gorgeous Paris is. Now imagine, “Paris jogging along the beach with her ponytail and boobs bouncing.” Or “Paris, wearing sexy bikini, posing on a boat.”

The other 35% shows how horrible her friend looks. Rotten toenails and teeth, untamed hair, oversized granny pants and more.

The only decent part was the 5% shown during the last few scenes. When the guy realized that he is in love with Nottie (who turned out looking really pretty after some cosmetic procedures) instead of Hottie. The sudden realization is the only scene worth looking at.

Rating: 1/5 (All for the 5% and the effort that Nottie put in to play her part.)

Caught Harold and Kumar. It was hilarious. A “boy-flick” for sure. So guy-ish and so explicit.

I’ve not watched the first one and I always wonder what it was about since all the guys around me were talking about it. Now I can totally understand why they loved it. Sex. Babe. Boobs. Pxxxs. Drugs. Slapstick jokes. Guys.

I hereby declare; “I love French movies!”

This show was rather intense. You can really feel how torn Marie-Jo was when she had to make a choice between 2 loves of her life.

Her husband, Daniel, is one who shared her past and life with. They created a stable family and a beautiful and smart daughter. He is the man who is deeply in loved with her and was not angry with her when he found out about her affair with another man. He was depressed, devastated and confused. He even tried to share his wife because he wanted her to stay.

Marco, a very charismatic guy and Marie-Jo was very happy when she was with him. Marco made her feels young again. Rejuvenated, happy and in loved.

Both men loved Marie-Jo a lot and so did Marie-Jo. You can feel how sad she was to make that decision. I can feel her pain.

To cut the story short, I’m going to reveal the ending here.

Marie-Jo went out on a boat trip with Daniel. Daniel accidentally slipped and hit himself on the head. He then fell into the sea in a semiconscious state. Marie-Jo tried saving him but to no avail. She then decided to die with Daniel, hugging and holding his hand and drown herself too. Both of them died.

Sigh, I hate sad ending.

Overall, the music was good, the acting was intense and the scene was beautiful. Just that the ending is way too tragic and I hate sad endings. Otherwise, it’s still a good show to watch.

Ratings: 3.75/5

Note: It is strange that it is rated as PG in Singapore! There were numerous sex and nudity scene involved! It should have been M18 or something! I’m glad I’ve watched it with one of my girl-friend to save me from feeling awkward and all.
