Caught the movie “The Leap Years” with Cat, Val, Tabi and Harry today and to my surprise it was actually kind of nice. Even though it is painful to watch 2 persons who are extremely in love to keep waiting for each other (mind you, it’s meeting once in four years!), the plot and the way the movie was film was kind of romantic and “arty”.
The tradition of leap years was indeed romantic, where it is believed that in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year. And in Scotland, they passed a law that allowed women to propose to the man of their choice on that day and any man who declined a proposal would have to pay a fine.
So yearning (and courageous) women out there do make your proposal tomorrow! Good luck!
This song is awesome! I love it! Was trying to post the video but not sure why I can’t do it. haha. Whatever.
