This restaurant was set up in the 1930s!

Was at Quan Xiang Yuan (Jing Ji) Seafood Restaurant for some decent and simple Hokkien food with a bunch of friends. They do not serve mind blowing orgasmic food but if you are looking for some old school cozy and simple Hokkien cuisine, here’s the place.

The place is simply decorated and it has the ability to bring you back in time to the 60s. The good thing of this place is that you can bring your own alcohol and wine at no corkage fee and it seems like it is popular among the older generations. However, one cannot expect the service and cleanliness standard of a restaurant, so do enjoy your food with an open mind.

Fish Maw Soup is a good replacement for Shark Fin Soup! Same great taste without killing any sharks!

The yummy roast chicken with the not so good crackers.

Hokkien style noodles. This is what we always have when we were younger and visiting my maternal grandmother!

The sinful Stewed Pork Bun with that pork belly in the soft bun.

Hokkien style Yam Paste. Yam paste is my favourite Chinese dessert.

Pork Liver and Prawn Ball. Yums.

This is something that I tried for the first time. A cold dish of Pork Leg meat stuff into Pork intestine. Probably the Hokkien version of Salami? Haha.

The tofu is good as well.

It is affordable and for a group of eight, we spent slightly above SGD160. I love their crispy roast chicken, prawn ball (hei chor), stewed pork bun (kong ba pa) and yam paste (orh nee).
