A bagful of clothes for SGD 50 from my little sister

photo (34)

I’m lucky to have a sister who is a spendthrift and a fashionista! My sister has a five door wardrobe filled to the brim and many clothes that she is tired of wearing. But unfortunately, this dear little sister of mine is also an entrepreneur! She cut a deal with me and after some negotiation, I got a bag of her best unwanted clothes from her one full trashbag worth of clothes for SGD 50. Haha. It was a good deal but she should have just give it to me for free! In her defense, she is a recent graduate who still unemployed.

Here are some of the clothes that was in the deal! Love the green romper, the beach cover and a couple of dresses. On top of this, she also threw in some t-shirts and tops. Haha.

Groupon Deal: Unlimited underarm IPL at Musee

photo (32)

A while back, I bought a Groupon deal from Musee for an unlimited session of underarm IPL session at SGD 98 and it was a great deal!

Before you book for a session at Musee, you need to book a consultation session to speak to their advisors. They will share with you the before and after care, terms and conditions and other useful information.

I went for my first session and enjoyed every bit of it. They provided good service, the room was clean and a little clinical (unlike the usual spa service) and the result is fantastic! After one session, the hair is visibly finer and more sparse! I can’t wait to complete more sessions to get rid of them totally! I understand from the therapist that frequent shaving causes dry, patchy skin with hair ingrowth and thicker hair but with IPL, it makes the skin visibly smoother and hair finer and I agree!

If you have missed the deal, you can also sign up at SGD 138 at their outlets. But they have the SGD 98 deal at and Groupon occasionally, so do keep a look out for it!

Reivew of Clarisonic Mia 2

photo (31)

Here’s a review on the Clarisonic Mia 2 that I bought two weeks back from Sephora while shopping in the latest mall in the west – JEM.

I’ve been using Clarisonic Mia 2 for two weeks daily and I love every bit of it. I’ve read that some people experience breakouts when they used daily, scrubbing their skin squeaky clean and causing the skin to generate more natural oil to keep the skin moisturize.

So I have been really caution when using my Mia 2 and here are some general guidelines when using it.

  • Read the instructions before using. There is a guide to share how much time should be given to each area. E.g 20 seconds on your T-zone and 10 seconds on your cheeks.
  • Stick to your face cleanser that you are currently using. Even though my Mia 2 comes with a sample size face cleanser, I stick to the one I love from my beautician. Gentle and natural.
  • Use it only in the evening or before bedtime. Once a day. After a long day at work, with cosmetic, sun block, dusts and other pollutants (haze!) on your face, this is the best time to use my Clarisonic to ensure that my face is all clean.
  • The Mia 2 comes with the brush head for sensitive skin, so it is really gentle. So stick to that for a start.
  • Mia 2 also comes with two speeds, try the slower speed for a while to allow your skin to get use to it.
  • Moisturize your skin after use to prevent over-drying the skin. I use my Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion.

What I love about Clarisonic Mia 2:-

  • It is entirely waterproof, the bristle is easy to change and it is easy to charge (and you don’t have to charge frequently).
  • It comes with a travel box and that means you won’t miss a session even while travelling.
  • If you buy it from Sephora (the only legal distributor in Singapore), it comes with 2 years warranty

What I love about the effects of using Clarisonic Mia 2:-

  • It keeps my skin really clean. Cleaning all the dirts from the pores, fine lines and wrinkles.
  • It allows my skin to absorb all the moisturizers and serums when my skin is all clean!

Dean & Deluca, Orchard Central

Last Sunday I had some me time again and I had lots of fun pampering myself! I started off with a Yoga session at Real Yoga, a Brazilian IPL (ouch) at Beyond Beauty, dinner at Dean & Deluca at Orchard Central and lastly a round of facial at Spa Symphony! It was the best me time ever! Somerset area is like my third home! Haha. I probably spend at least four to six hours there in a week!

Back to Dean & Deluca at Orchard Central, I tried their American breakfast for dinner and it was a little too oily for my liking. I still love Cedele all day breakfast best! Affordable, hearty and healthy. Dean & Deluca’s food is a little overpriced and for their average service and simple ambience, I don’t think it is worth the bucks.

Their desserts look tempting though.

photo (29)
The potato tower is nice and the egg is yummy too. The bacon is absolutely crispy and yummy but after one or two, it was too oily for me. The sausage is nice but a little oily. Their healthy bread is nice too but also a little too oily / buttery.

Will I ever go back again? Probably just for drinks and desserts to give it another try.

Yoga At Times Square, Summer Solstice, New York City

Yoga in my favourite city in the world? Oh yes!

I can’t swallow pills.

I hate swallowing pills. It must be psychological. I fear that I puke or choke to death.

I used to pound all the pills into powdered form and dissolved it in water. The results? A murky concoction that tasted real bad.

Now? I chewed it real quick and take gulps of water to wash it down.

Whenever I’m ill I need to have some candies, chocolates or snacks to take it with my pills.

I take one full glass of water for one pill.

And if I need to take three pills, I will break it into half an hour sessions for each pill. That’s because I’m so full with water after the first.

I’m random and weird but who cares. I still love myself! Haha.

I need a Pool Party

Pool Party

I need a pool party away from Singapore. I can’t wait for my beach holiday and gosh, if only I can stay in a villa with a private pool. Haha.

Love this pretzel float! I came across it on local blogger – Beatrice Tan’s blog and when I googled it I found it on Urban Outfitter. Too cute and it can comfortably fit two or three! How fun!

I will be getting one of these dry bag to protect my precious for my beach holiday! A disposable camera should come in handy too! Oh and I love a cocktail by a pool or beach. Gosh, I need a holiday.

Preventing UTI

I’m having UTI again, the second time within 6 months. Sucks, this is embarrassing. But on a happier note, I can stay indoor and avoid the haze.

Here are some tips I got from the doctor to prevent UTI and I thought it is useful information for the girls here! This is mainly for us girls and if you think this topic puts you off, do skip it. Haha. The doctor was really professional and shared a lot of useful tips. I learnt a lot compared to the previous young doctor I saw. At least he bothers to share useful information and not just stuff you with medicines. Haha.

  • Drink lots of water. It helps to clean up your body. I am guilty of not drinking enough water.
  • Don’t hold your pee. Holding causes infection in your bladder. Especially for girls, our unitary tract is shorter compared to guys who are armed with tubes.
  • Eat more fruits to prevent constipation. Shit held in the body is located near the bladder and may cause infection.
  • After peeing, wipe clean from front to back instead of the other way round. You don’t want bacteria from your ass to come near the front.
  • Wash up before sex both you and your partner.
  • For the girls, ensure you are well lubricated before sex. Guys just need to be patient. According to the doctor, if girls are not well lubricated before sex, it may break some walls inside and causes infection. I have no idea exactly how it infects the unitary tract though.
  • Drink lots of water and try to pee immediately after sex to clean it off. Have a rinse too.
  • Drink cranberry juice. Before antibiotics were created, doctors gave women cranberry juice.
  • Other than UTI, to prevent fugal or bacteria, try to wear cotton panties, keep your down under clean and dry.

If you are having UTI and your lower back hurts and are having a fever, it may have attacked your kidney. Don’t ignore it, see a doctor and they will give you a jab to make you feel better.

UTI can also happen to children so do share these information with your young girls as well, erm minus the sex part of course.

If you suffer from UTI frequently (more than twice a year), you may be suffering from diabetics (I got it tested and thankfully I’m not). It can also be due to cyst or stone in your bladder. Gosh, I hope I’m not suffering from that because we will need an ultra scan to test for it. If all is ok and you are still getting it, the doctors may need to check you and your partner just in case.

I hope this is useful for you girls!

Breakfast at Costa, Vivocity

Was blessed with an opportunity to have a lazy Sunday breakfast before running some errands and we decided to pop by Costa at Vivocity.

I love their decor and ambience, with great music and comfortable environment. Perfect for a lazy morning.

They have a decent food selection but their food and drinks are not something I will rave about. The portion of the wrap is pathetic, the beef pie was yummy but a tat oily, carrot cake was lovely and not too sweet but their hot chocolate is just sad. A little too diluted.

photo (76)

Overall, a pleasant morning but it could be from the great company too. Haha.

Tasting Wines of Victoria, Australia

Another reason why I love my job! I can be drinking and it is all legitimate. Haha.

photo (67)

I tasted 13 types of wine, mostly red (bleah), some white, some sparkling and one dessert. I’m so sticking to my white and dessert. Not one of those who can appreciate the robust red, oaky taste and with a tinge of spiciness. Oops. Not so sophisticated ya. But I adore my citrus and honey white. Oh girls, don’t be jealous, I have my shitty days too.

ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution

A follow up of Natalie’s post which I’ve reblog earlier on. Haha.

Indonesia forest fire

(Photo — Reuters)

The PSI has hit 190 as of 19 June, 8pm. 290 as of 19 June, 9pm.

So I got a teensy bit worried and for some reason thought that googling “haze” might make me feel better.

And I stumbled onto its wikipedia page, and found this

Since 1991, haze has been a particularly acute problem in Southeast Asia, Indonesian forest fires burnt to clear land being the reason. In response to the 1997 Southeast Asian haze, the ASEAN countries agreed on a Regional Haze Action Plan (1997). In 2002, all ASEAN countries except Indonesia signed the Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution, but the pollution is still a problem today.

I received Cat and Ivan’s Save the Date this morning and am all excited about their wedding! It will be my first destination wedding and the luxury resort that they picked made me really thrilled to be part of it! I see myself dressing up in maxi dress and beach sandals for their wedding! Another perfect excuse for a short getaway! Always welcome a beach holiday! Haha.

How to make jokes about the SG Haze

I totally need to reblog this. This babe is way too funny! Hahaha.

SG Haze Singapore Flyer

(Facebook — Straits Times)

Yesterday, the PSI (Pollutant Standards Index) in Singapore hit 155, which is well into the unhealthy range (101-200) set by the National Environment Agency. For anyone who isn’t from Singapore, we get this insane haze like once a year because our neighbouring country, Indonesia, likes to organise nationwide barbecues to unify their people.

Just kidding, they like to burn down forests for plantations.

But anyway, naturally, Singaporeans’ immediate reactions were to make jokes about it. We are, after all, a funny people. So if you’re feeling left out and don’t know how to jump in with your own joke, here’s a guide to help you out!

1. Talk about how you don’t need a filter for Instagram anymore!

SGAG Instagram SG Haze

Like in most other tech-savvy countries, Singaporeans loovvvveeee Instagram – we’ve even come up with an acronym for it: IG. Thanks to the haze, we no longer need…

Rocking Floral in the heat

Rocking Floral in the heat
Rocking Floral in the heat
This is how I will rock my new floral dress in this summer heat!
// I’ve just downloaded Polyvore app and am loving Polyvoring on the go!

Taitong shared with me that I can use Feedly in replacement of Google Reader! What a savoir! Phew! Thankfully the move was just clicks away! Haha. Many Google Reader refugees made the switch to Feedly! Remember to do so before 1 July!

Threadless tees

I’ve been waiting to buy some Threadless tees but am resisting until today, there is a USD 10 tees sales going on for most of their tees and shipping to Singapore is USD 9 flat!

Little introduction is required for Threadless! So for those who have not heard, Threadless is an online company where creative minds from all over the world can submit designs. Members vote and pick the ones that are to be printed and Threadless will print them for us! This is a perfect place to support a global artist community!

There is an owl tee which I have been aiming for a long time but is out of stock. Sigh. But these that I bought are just too hard to resist. I am so broke but I am turning into a spendthrift. Gosh. Someone just lock me up. Haha.

The bear and the girl are so sweet.

Perfect for my beach getaway! Haha. Cute.

I want to travel the world and see these sights too!

Smoke gets in my Eyes, Singapore

I totally need to rant on this. For readers who are not from Singapore, you are probably unaware of the haze we are experiencing here. The sky looks gloomy, the air smells smokey, and people are falling ill and getting nose, throat and eyes irritation. This is one of the worst Haze since 1997!

I am pissed, so very pissed.

All because of the irresponsible farmers in Sumatra, Indonesia who decides to set fire to forest, we are experiencing this poor air quality for days! The Indonesian government is blaming investors from Singapore for this? This is a joke. If their government allows commercial interests to be of higher regard than the environment, who is to blame? It is happening in their land!

Instead of deploying aircrafts to drop water over Sumatra Island immediately, they deployed firefighters on ground. Hello?! We are talking about forest fires causing unhealthy haze to neighbouring countries! Shouldn’t there be greater urgency?

What pisses me off is that all our green efforts vanished just like that. We worked hard during Earth Hour, No Smoking Day, daily recycling and bringing my our bag efforts but all these efforts got wiped clean just because of their irresponsibility? Hmph. And we pride ourselves for being a clean and green city garden!

Enough ranting, with this depressing haze going on, Singaporeans are also getting creative. Here are some funny ones which I’ve collected from Facebook! Haha.

Shopping at JEM

photo (58)
50 Jurong Gateway Road, Singapore 608549
(Connected via link bridge at the other end of Jurong East MRT Station)

With all the hype around the delay of opening of JEM in the beginning of this week, the people in the West are really excited to see it finally opened today! I joined in the hype as I spent some quality me time shopping and dining. I love JEM! Like many others, I love that all the international brands are just at my door step, brands like H&M, Sephora, Paris Baguette, Uniqlo and more!

Their mocha is great!

I hate the crowd though. The ungracious crowd seriously irks me. As I was trying to find a seat at Paris Baguette, two middle age ladies snatch my seat right under my nose. While I was almost done with my food, two guys came and waited patiently for me to finish up my drink. Whe I was about to get out of my seat, a young girl quickly walked over and grabbed the seat while ignoring the two guys who waited patiently. I hate ungracious Singaporeans and told the two guys in my sweetest voice possible and a wide smile on my face, “I think you are here first, you can have my seat.”. The guys though surprised by my gesture were surely glad. No surprise, the young lady was pissed. As I walked out the store, she commented loudly, “What a bitch.” HAHA. Was I affected by the young lady’s remark? Absolutely not! Because I know I’m not and look who’s the bitch. I continued shopping and enjoyed my me time there after while the young lady can fume all she wants. Oh, am I bitchy. Haha.

I got myself a Clarisonic Mia 2 after reading a lot of reviews raving about it. Will try it and review it another day! Sephora is the only legal distributor in Singapore for Clarisonic and it comes with 2 years warranty for Mia 2!

Got myself plenty of new clothes from H&M! They gave out pretty flower pin and facial wash!

A random blue dress from a blogshop store.

GRRRR. Why did stupid Google give up their Google Reader application?! I’m busy adding those links to my blog here just so I won’t lose it. Even though there are other similar apps out there, I can’t get use to them! Yikes. Meanwhile, you will see lots of random links popping up in my blog rolls at the right side! Have fun clicking and reading blogs from other bloggers!
